Fashion Design - Bachelor of Fine Arts
The Fashion curriculum refines and focuses the student's individual vision and aesthetics in fashion, offering courses in design, merchandising, textiles and knitwear. Studio courses hone student's mastery of fashion industry standards in design and construction. The program combines design excellence with computer skills, preparing our graduates to launch themselves into the industry upon graduating. Intensive studio and academic courses culminate in the production of a professional fashion collection or portfolio. A student's portfolio demonstrates mastery of the mutually productive elements of individual style and technical expertise. Selected collections are chosen to be part of the Academy's Annual Fashion Show. Merchandising majors acquire the skills needed to succeed in the fashion industry in buying, product development, retail management, or marketing.

Fashion Design - Master of Fine Arts
The MFA Fashion curriculum refines and focuses the graduate candidate's individual design vision, offering courses in fashion, merchandising, textiles and knitwear. Studio courses hone the graduate candidate's mastery of fashion industry standards in design and construction, enhancing design excellence with computer skills, and preparing MFA candidates to launch themselves into the industry upon graduating. Merchandising majors acquire the skills to succeed in the fashion industry in buying, product development, retail management, or marketing.
Subsequent to intensive studio and academic courses, the graduate candidate is guided through directed study resulting in the Final Project-production of a professional fashion collection, portfolio, or merchandising project. Selected collections are chosen to be part of the Academy's Annual Fashion Show.

Admissions
It is the mission of the Academy of Art University to provide aspiring artists and designers with career preparation, combined with academic excellence, for the BFA, MFA and Certificate Programs in the areas of art and design.
One of our objectives it to maintain an open admissions policy that afford all people access to an institute of higher education. We know that may of our most successful students, and some of our best candidates for the Academy, haven't been given that opportunity yet. We do not require a portfolio for admission, however if you do have a portfolio this may be helpful to you in accelerating your program.
Financial Aid
The Academy of Art University offers financial aid packages consisting of grants, loans and work study to students who demonstrate financial need. Low-interest Federal student loans are also available to eligible students, regardless of need.
The Academy's Financial Aid office is staffed with helpful advisors who can guide you through the financial aid application process and determine your eligibility for Federal Financial Aid.
