Students studying fashion design can specialize in Costume Design, leading to an exciting career in the entertainment industry. Courses in this concentration include historical and contemporary costume design for film, television and stage, as well as theatrical make-up, costume accessories and props.
The Fashion History & Fashion Theory program is intended to push the boundaries of the fast-growing fashion discipline by considering fashion's significance in a more contemporary context. Fashion will be considered as both object and image, using a range of historical and theoretical approaches to gain an understanding of its significance within the contemporary context.
Knitwear is becoming an increasingly important fashion discipline and has grown to encompass high fashion, cut-and-sew jersey, stretch and body wear as well as the traditional quality and craft styles. The knitwear pathway embraces the breadth of creative approaches to knitwear. Students will become familiar with a wide variety of techniques - from hand skills to new technology - and with materials with which distinctive knitwear and jersey fashion can be created. The aim is to realize adventurous knitwear design ideas relevant to the broad range of the international fashion market. Students have the opportunity to explore how knitwear interacts with the other creative fashion disciplines, across menswear and womenswear.
